Itinerary
DAY 1: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Km 104 – Chachabamba – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 2:30 AM and transfer you to the train station in Ollantaytambo. There, you’ll board a train bound for Km 104, the starting point of your Short Inca Trail adventure.
Upon arrival, we begin our hike by exploring the archaeological site of Chachabamba, an elegant Inca complex located near the banks of the Urubamba River. From there, the trail ascends through lush cloud forest toward Wiñay Wayna, one of the most stunning and well-preserved sites along the trail, featuring agricultural terraces, ritual fountains, and temples.
After a picnic lunch and a short rest, we continue hiking toward the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), the original Inca entrance to Machu Picchu. From this unique vantage point, you’ll enjoy your first breathtaking view of the citadel.
We then descend to Machu Picchu, taking in the magical atmosphere in the soft afternoon light. After this unforgettable experience, we take a bus down to Aguas Calientes, where your hotel awaits.
Around 7:00 PM, you’ll enjoy dinner at a local restaurant and receive a briefing for the next day’s visit to Machu Picchu.
DAY 2: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo – Cusco
After an early breakfast at the hotel, we’ll take the bus up to Machu Picchu to enter the citadel at sunrise—an unforgettable and magical moment. Accompanied by your professional guide, you’ll enjoy a 2 to 3-hour guided tour of the most important temples, plazas, and ceremonial sites within the complex.
After the guided tour, you’ll have free time to explore on your own. If you booked in advance, you can also hike Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.
Once your visit is complete, we’ll take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where you’ll have time for lunch (not included). In the afternoon, you’ll board the train back to Ollantaytambo.
