Itinerary
DAY 1: Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa – Humantay Lake
Your adventure begins with an early 5:00 AM pick-up from your hotel in Cusco. We travel by private transportation through the scenic countryside to the village of Mollepata, where you’ll enjoy a hearty breakfast and meet the trekking team. After a brief orientation, we continue by vehicle to Challacancha, the starting point of our trek.
From here, we hike along a gradually ascending trail with panoramic views of the Andes, native flora, and glimpses of local wildlife. After approximately 3 hours of trekking, we arrive at our first campsite in Soraypampa (3,900 m / 12,795 ft), nestled at the base of the majestic Salkantay Mountain.
In the afternoon, we take a short but rewarding hike to the stunning Humantay Lake (4,200 m / 13,779 ft), known for its striking turquoise waters and breathtaking mountain backdrop. After enjoying the view and taking memorable photos, we return to camp for dinner and a restful night under the stars.

DAY 2: Soraypampa – Salkantay Pass – Collpapampa
Wake-up call is at 4:30 AM, followed by a hearty breakfast at 5:00 AM to ensure you’re fully energized for the most demanding day of the trek.
We begin our hike from Soraypampa, ascending for approximately 3 hours to reach the highest point of the journey: Abra Salkantay (4,650 m / 15,250 ft). From this spectacular vantage point, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the towering snow-capped peaks of the Andes, including Salkantay, Humantay, Tucarhuay, and Pumasillo.
Along the way, we pass through Salkantaypampa and Soyrococha, where we’ll discover a small glacial lake surrounded by dramatic natural scenery. After reaching the pass, we begin a 2-hour descent toward Wayracmachay (3,800 m / 12,470 ft), where a well-deserved lunch will be served.
In the afternoon, we continue our descent for another 3 hours, as the landscape transitions into lush high jungle, rich with native flora and fauna. We finally arrive at our campsite in Collpapampa (2,900 m / 9,514 ft). Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxing afternoon tea and a delicious dinner prepared by our chef. Tonight, rest in the comfort of our cozy domes, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of nature.

DAY 3: Collpapampa – La Playa – Lucmabamba
After a rejuvenating night’s sleep, we begin Day 3 of our Salkantay trek with a delicious breakfast surrounded by nature. Today’s hike lasts approximately 5.5 hours as we make our way through the lush Peruvian cloud forest, navigating a trail filled with ascents and descents.
This scenic stretch of the route takes us past vibrant coffee plantations, wild orchids, waterfalls, and a variety of native plants traditionally used for medicinal purposes by local communities. The tropical environment is rich in biodiversity, offering opportunities to spot colorful birds, butterflies, and other wildlife.
We arrive at Lucmabamba, our lunch and campsite location, where you’ll have time to relax and enjoy a coffee tour with local farmers. Learn firsthand how coffee is grown, harvested, roasted, and prepared—and enjoy a freshly brewed cup straight from the source.
You’ll spend the night in our comfortable private jungle domes, nestled in the heart of the high jungle. In the afternoon, you have the optional opportunity to visit the nearby Cocalmayo hot springs in Santa Teresa (not included), perfect for soaking sore muscles. We return to the camp by 6:00 PM for tea and a delicious dinner prepared by our chef.

DAY 4: Lucmabamba – Llactapata – Hidroelectrica – Aguas Calientes
After an early breakfast, we begin our ascent along an original Inca Trail for approximately 3 hours toward the archaeological site of Llactapata (2,750 m / 9,022 ft). From this unique vantage point, you’ll enjoy a spectacular first glimpse of Machu Picchu in the distance, perfectly framed by the surrounding mountains.
After exploring Llactapata and learning about its significance, we descend for about 2 hours through lush vegetation to reach Hidroeléctrica, where we’ll stop for lunch and a short rest.
In the afternoon, we continue with a 3-hour scenic walk along the train tracks, following the Urubamba River toward Aguas Calientes (2,040 m / 6,693 ft), the gateway town to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, you’ll check in to your hotel and have time to relax, take a hot shower, and explore the charming town before dinner.
Tonight, enjoy a celebratory dinner in a local restaurant as we prepare for the grand finale—your visit to Machu Picchu.

DAY 5: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
This is the day you’ve been waiting for—the opportunity to explore one of the New Seven Wonders of the World: Machu Picchu.
We’ll start early, with a wake-up call around 4:30 AM, and a packed breakfast provided by the hotel. The hike to Machu Picchu takes approximately 1.5 hours. First, we descend for 30 minutes to reach the Puente Ruinas checkpoint, where you’ll need to present your original passport, Machu Picchu entrance ticket, and student ID (if applicable).
After crossing the bridge, we’ll ascend a steep stairway for about one hour, aiming to arrive at Machu Picchu’s main entrance by 6:00 AM—perfect timing to experience the sunrise over the majestic citadel.
Note: If you prefer not to hike, there is a bus option from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu that takes about 30 minutes and costs $12 USD per person.
Upon arrival, your guide will lead you to the classic panoramic viewpoint for the iconic photo of Machu Picchu. Then, enjoy a 2.5-hour guided tour through the most important sectors of the site, including the Temple of the Sun, the Main Plaza, Intihuatana, and more. You’ll gain insight into the engineering, spirituality, and daily life of the ancient Incas.
After the guided tour, you’ll have free time to explore on your own or opt for an additional hike to:
