After breakfast, our representative will transfer you to Lima’s airport for your domestic flight to Cusco, the historic capital of the Inca Empire. Upon arrival, a representative from Sungate Peru Travel will welcome you and assist with your transfer to the hotel.

Cusco, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is renowned for its blend of colonial and Incan architecture, vibrant local culture, and breathtaking mountain scenery. In the afternoon, you have the option to join a walking tour through the city’s charming streets, visiting iconic landmarks such as the Plaza de Armas, Cusco Cathedral, and the Qorikancha (Temple of the Sun).

End your day by enjoying a stunning sunset from one of Cusco’s panoramic viewpoints, offering spectacular views of the surrounding Andes Mountains.

Overnight in Cusco

Pickup time is at 7:30 am from your hotel in Cusco. Today, you will immerse yourself in the rich culture and history of the Sacred Valley. Begin with a visit to a local Andean community near Pisac, where you can learn about traditional farming practices, handicrafts, and daily life.

Next, explore the vibrant Pisac Market, famous for its colorful textiles, handmade crafts, and authentic local products—an ideal place to experience Andean culture firsthand.

Enjoy a delicious lunch in Urubamba, the heart of the Sacred Valley, known for its beautiful landscapes and local cuisine.

In the afternoon, visit the impressive Inca archaeological site of Ollantaytambo. Discover ancient terraces, temples, and fortresses that showcase the incredible engineering skills of the Inca civilization while enjoying breathtaking views of the valley.

The day ends in Ollantaytambo, where you will be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.

After breakfast, enjoy a scenic train ride from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, the gateway town to Machu Picchu. Relax and take in breathtaking views of the Urubamba River and surrounding Andean landscapes along the way.

For the hikers who have pre-booked the 1-day Inca Trail option, this day offers an unforgettable adventure. You will disembark the train early at kilometer 104, where your experienced local guide will lead you on a scenic hike to the iconic Puerta del Sol (Sun Gate). This trek takes you through stunning cloud forests and ancient Inca paths, culminating in breathtaking views of Machu Picchu from above.

After reaching the Sun Gate, you will have the chance to explore the Machu Picchu ruins in the afternoon, experiencing the mystical atmosphere before the main crowd arrives. This early visit allows for a more intimate connection with the Lost City of the Incas.

Meanwhile, the rest of the group will arrive in Aguas Calientes before dinner and enjoy a free afternoon to relax and explore. Options include shopping for local crafts in the bustling markets, visiting the nearby Mandor Waterfall, or unwinding in the natural hot springs—a perfect way to prepare for the big day ahead.

Make sure to rest well, as tomorrow promises a full day of exploration at Machu Picchu, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Overnight in Aguas Calientes

Pickup time is around 6:00 am from your hotel in Aguas Calientes. From there, enjoy a 25-minute bus ride up to the entrance of the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.

Begin your day with a 2-hour guided tour of Machu Picchu, one of the most iconic archaeological sites in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Discover the fascinating history, architecture, and mysteries of the Lost City of the Incas as your expert guide leads you through this ancient wonder.

After your tour, enjoy some free time to explore Machu Picchu at your own pace, take photos, or hike to nearby viewpoints such as Huayna Picchu or the Inca Bridge (optional and subject to permits).

In the afternoon, board the return train from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo, where you will be met and transferred back to your hotel in Cusco.

Overnight in Cusco

This is your perfect chance to take a breather, explore the city at your own pace, or dive into more adventures if you’re up for it.

If you still have energy and want more unforgettable moments, the full-day hike to Rainbow Mountain is a fantastic option. The stunning colors and breathtaking views make it an experience you won’t forget.

Not a fan of hiking? No worries. You can try mountain biking on scenic trails, wander through Cusco’s charming museums, or explore the lively local markets and shops filled with handmade crafts and unique souvenirs. Or maybe today’s just a day to relax, soak in the atmosphere, and enjoy some downtime with friends at your hotel.

Whatever you choose, Day 6 in Cusco is all about doing what feels right for you—relax, explore, or adventure. It’s a win either way!

Upon arrival at the airport or bus station, you’ll be transferred to our office for a final briefing before starting the adventure. We recommend repacking your luggage to bring only the essentials for the trip.

Next, we’ll travel by 4×4 truck for approximately 2 hours to reach the banks of the Tambopata River. (If you’re traveling by river, the journey may take more than 6 hours, for your information.) From the riverbank, we’ll board a boat to reach the lodge.

Once you arrive, you’ll be warmly welcomed with either breakfast or lunch, depending on your arrival time. In the afternoon, we’ll take an introductory walk through the tropical jungle. This is a great opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife in their natural habitat — including amphibians, mammals, reptiles, and fascinating insects.

Begin your day with a scenic 3 km trek through dense tropical jungle, leading you to the enchanting Sandoval Lake, famous for its rich biodiversity and piranha habitat.

Embark on a peaceful rowing boat excursion across Sandoval Lake, surrounded by pristine nature. Look out for a variety of bird species such as shanshos, cormorants, jacanas, and the impressive puma heron. You might also spot soaring buzzards, playful howler monkeys, brown capuchin monkeys, tamarins, and the elusive sloths.

With some luck, you may encounter a family of giant river otters, nearly two meters long and endangered. Watch their playful antics and graceful movements as they swim through the calm waters.

After your morning adventure, return to the lodge for a delicious traditional lunch, savoring the unique flavors of the Amazon.

In the afternoon, enjoy another immersive jungle trek, discovering a fascinating variety of insects, amphibians, reptiles, and nocturnal animals. Let your senses come alive as you explore deeper into the heart of the rainforest.

End your day with a satisfying dinner at the lodge, followed by a restful evening reflecting on the incredible experiences and natural wonders you’ve encountered.

After breakfast at the lodge, it’s time to say goodbye to the Amazon rainforest. You will be transferred by boat back to the Tambopata River, followed by a 4×4 ride to the Puerto Maldonado airport.

From there, board your flight back to Lima, where your Peruvian adventure concludes. Upon arrival in Lima, you may continue your journey or prepare for your departure home.
