Itinerary
DAY 1: Puno | Uros Island | Taquile Island | Puno
Our journey across Lake Titicaca begins early in the morning, around 7:30 AM, with a comfortable pickup from your hotel in Puno. From there, we head to the port and board our motorboat, ready to explore one of the most culturally rich and visually stunning regions in Peru. The views along the way are breathtaking—deep blue waters, rolling hills, and the crisp highland air make for a beautiful start to the day.
Our first stop is the famous Uros Floating Islands, a marvel of human ingenuity and tradition. Built entirely from totora reeds, these islands are home to families who have preserved a unique way of life for generations. Walking on the reed surface is an experience in itself—soft and slightly springy beneath your feet. As we explore, you’ll learn how the islands are constructed and maintained, and meet local residents who will share their history, customs, and daily life with warmth and pride.
We then continue our boat ride to Taquile Island, arriving at a peaceful, less-visited part of the island. You’ll have time to enjoy the tranquility of the lake, stroll along its quiet shores, and take in sweeping panoramic views. On the island, time seems to slow down. We’ll walk along a pre-Inca trail that winds through the landscape, visiting weaving families who welcome us into their homes to share the meaning behind their ancient textile art—recognized by UNESCO for its cultural value. It’s a beautiful exchange of tradition and hospitality.
After a traditional lunch prepared by locals—usually a hearty quinoa soup and freshly grilled trout—we begin our return to Puno. The experience ends in the late afternoon, around 5:30 PM, leaving you with meaningful memories of life on the lake and the rich cultures that call it home.
