Itinerary
FULL DAY: Machu Picchu Tour by Expedition Train
Pickup in Cusco and Transfer to the Train Station
Your adventure begins early in the morning with pickup from your hotel in Cusco around 3:00 a.m. From there, we’ll head to the Ollantaytambo train station in our tourist transport. The drive takes about 1.5 to 2 hours and offers beautiful views of the Andean countryside along the way.
Expedition Train Ride to Machu Picchu Pueblo
At 5:05 a.m., you’ll board the Expedition tourist train, heading toward Machu Picchu Pueblo (Aguas Calientes). Sit back and enjoy a scenic ride through the Sacred Valley, with stunning views of the Urubamba River and the towering mountains that guide you toward the Inca citadel.
Arrival and Bus Up to Machu Picchu
Upon arrival in Machu Picchu Pueblo (around 7:10 a.m.), your guide will meet you at the train station and escort you to the bus terminal. From there, we’ll take a 30-minute ride up the winding mountain road to the entrance of Machu Picchu.
Guided Tour of Machu Picchu
Once inside the sanctuary, enjoy a 2-hour guided tour of the most iconic parts of Machu Picchu, including the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana, and the Sacred Plaza. Your expert guide will share the fascinating history and mysteries of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Return to Machu Picchu Pueblo & Free Time for Lunch
After the tour, you’ll take the bus back down to Machu Picchu Pueblo, where you’ll have free time for lunch (not included), to explore the local artisan market, or simply relax in the town.
Free Afternoon and Return to Cusco
At the designated time, make sure to be at the train station at least 30 minutes before departure. You’ll take the train back to Ollantaytambo, where our driver will be waiting to transfer you back to Cusco.
We’ll drop you off at Plaza San Francisco, located just two blocks from Cusco’s main square, the Plaza de Armas.
